Guest blog writer today – Fiona’s mom! 🙂
Each new day is a wonder. Fiona talks non-stop all day which is INCREDIBLE. Today she was working on her ahhhhh, huhhh, mmmmm and making low pitch grunts. Basically practicing her new skills. She also has a brand new raspberry sound that is impossible to explain.
We’ve had 3 new programs to test out over the past week and a half. This past Saturday we tried her 3rd program and she responded to her name. This was the first time that we noticed that she could hear speech with her implant. Here is a video:
Then today I tested an extremely high frequency sound “shhhhhhhh”. And she responded 4 times! We weren’t expecting her to hear such a high frequency sound so early but we will take it! Take a look:
Last but not least another video of Fiona banging on objects around the house. This is another skill she does all day long – bangs on everything. Fiona’s having so much fun and so are we!
Love the videos…especially the last one! Laundry baskets are the best toys ever! Haha. Fiona is a cutie.
Clearly, drumming is in Fiona’s future. It is a pure joy to see the miracle of her hearing unfold.
This is awesome! It is such a joy to see Fiona with the biggest smiles as she learns a new way to communicate. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you so much everyone!!!
Go Fiona, Go! Keep up the good work!
love that she can hear such high frequencies so soon! just amazing! XOXO

Yay Fiona! These videos are awesome and she looks so happy all the time. I mean who wouldn’t be with such great parents. At the end of that last one she looks like she is also learning to walk 🙂
Aw thanks Natasha!!! She can stand by herself for about 10 seconds at a time. Then she realizes she’s standing and she’s like oh scary better sit down!
Really neat! 🙂
